Dear Member
In just over 3 months we will be opening our beloved Run for the 2026-2027 season. The Bartley Bear will be on 17th December 2026.
As our summer draws to a close, we can reflect on various activities that have taken place in the UK or further afield. We played golf in Swinley and in Samedan. Our classic cars were given a good turnover driving down to Chiavenna. Cyclists toured the Engadine Valley. The St Moritz weekend culminated in an excellent dinner organised by Michael Bornhaeusser in the Billionaires Club, even catering for all the World Cup football fans amongst us, with both England and Switzerland in action on the big screen that evening. Tremendous organisation by all.
But well before I call the first rider to the Box, we have our November Cocktail party to look forward to. Tilly MacDonald will send out booking details in due course. Please reserve the date if you have not already done so: Thursday 12th November at the Turf Club.
The Tower Team are now slowly beginning to think about their travel plans. The Tower “Kinder” for the coming season have been appointed. Assisting us this season will be Lilla Ayling, Johnny Liversedge and Caspar Garton. Shop Girl Honor Shingles will be managing an exciting variety of existing favourites, plus some exciting new items from our ever-creative Joe Townley.
In the Tower Team, Katja Ayling will be standing in for Tilly MacDonald in the Clubhouse. Tilly will be on maternity leave as she is expecting her third child, which will be due at the end of December. Tilly will still maintain certain responsibilities in the background from home in Spean Bridge. Our trusted stalwarts, Annabel, Andrew and Jamie will of course be there to ensure another successful season. Filippo Guerrini-Maraldi has volunteered to be the Guru and will bring plenty of enthusiasm to the Junction start Box.
The Kulm Hotel continues its renovation and re-design of the entrance area. Worry not, our beloved Sunny Bar remains untouched, but you may find the entrance and lobby slightly different.
I look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible for another winter of tobogganing in St Moritz.
With best wishes,
Martin Greenland – CEO and Secretary
